Staff Changes at Wessex Community Action
There have been a number of staff changes recently: Debrah Biggs has left Wessex Community Action for new ventures after more than fifteen years. Debrah came to the charity in 2004, as the Training Partnership Manager working on a joint project with The Learning Curve and Salisbury District Council. She then progressed through the organisation to become Chief Executive Officer in November 2010. The Board of Trustees acknowledges the great debt of gratitude that is owed to Debrah for the contribution she has made to Wessex Community Action.
The Board of Trustees are pleased to announce that Debrah handed over the reins of the organisation on 3rd September to Amber Skyring. Amber brings more than 20 years of experience of working in the Voluntary, Not for Profit and Local Government sectors. She also has experience of running her own business.
Amber has been instrumental throughout her career in setting up and establishing many projects and partnerships, and securing substantial amounts of funding to tackle poverty and social disadvantage in Wiltshire. As Wessex Community Action moves into this new phase, Amber will be building on existing relationships and seeking out new ones and the Board of Trustees are looking forward to seeing her experience and wisdom shaping the organisation’s future within the sector.
Louise Hitchin retired as our office administrator at the end of July and Ian Silk (previously a WCA Trustee) has joined the administration team to support Amber in further developing our services in the community. Ian comes with a significant range of experiences from his military background and 13 years of management in the NHS.
With Amber's switch from managing the Child Contact Centre to Chief Executive of Wessex Community Action we have been fortunate to re-recruit the skills of Liz Sirman who previously managed the Salisbury Child Contact Centre before Amber. Liz brings with her, over 20 years of experience of working with children and families in the Charity Sector.
