Celebrating International Volunteer Managers Day 2026
Time to read: ~ minutes,
Today is International Volunteer Managers Day, and we want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all the incredible people who support, coordinate, inspire and champion volunteers every day.
Volunteer managers are often the people working behind the scenes, making sure volunteers feel welcomed, supported, valued and able to make a difference. From recruitment and training to problem-solving, encouragement and everything in between, your role is such a varied one.
Without volunteer managers, many volunteers simply wouldn't be able to get involved. You create opportunities for people to give their time, skills and passion to causes that matter. You help volunteers thrive, and in turn strengthen communities across Wiltshire and beyond.
At Wessex Community Action, we're proud to support volunteer managers through our Volunteer Managers Forum. The forum provides a space where people can come together to share successes, discuss challenges, learn from one another and realise that they're not facing everything alone.
This year we've been especially pleased to focus on volunteer manager development. Through two dedicated forum sessions, we've explored confidence, leadership and influence, helping volunteer managers feel more confident in themselves and better equipped to champion volunteering within their organisations.
We're delighted that our forum can provide a space for reflection, learning and growth, as well as peer support.
So today, whether you manage five volunteers or five hundred, we want to say Thank you.
Thank you for your patience, your enthusiasm, your problem-solving skills and your dedication. Thank you for creating meaningful volunteering opportunities. Thank you for helping people find purpose, connection and confidence through volunteering.
Most of all, thank you for everything you do to make volunteering possible.
If you're supporting volunteers in Wiltshire and would like to connect with others in a similar role, we'd love for you to join us at our next Volunteer Managers Forum in December.
Happy International Volunteer Managers Day!
